10-year UV warranty: what's covered, what isn't, and how it protects your investment

The 10-year UV warranty is one of CALNAUTIC's key arguments. But what does it actually mean? We explain exactly what is covered, what is not, and how to claim your warranty.

When we talk about a 10-year UV warranty for a marine foam deck, we are talking about one of the longest warranties in this segment. But as with any warranty, the details matter. Here we explain exactly what is covered and what conditions must be met.

What the warranty covers

  • Discolouration or colour loss caused by solar UV radiation exposure.
  • Degradation of non-slip properties due to solar exposure.
  • Material delamination due to manufacturing defects.
  • Loss of foam structural integrity under normal use conditions.

What the warranty does not cover

  • Mechanical damage from impact, cutting or severe abrasion.
  • Peeling caused by use of unsuitable adhesive or poorly prepared surface.
  • Staining from oils, fuel or other chemical substances.
  • Normal wear in very high-traffic zones (steps, boarding areas).
  • Damage caused by use of abrasive cleaners or solvents.

The technology behind the warranty

The UV stabilisers incorporated into CALNAUTIC nautical polyethylene foam act as molecular filters that absorb and dissipate UV energy before it can degrade the polymers. The concentration of these additives has been specifically calibrated to withstand solar radiation levels found in the Mediterranean and Caribbean — the two highest-exposure areas of our client base.

How to claim your warranty

  1. 1Keep your purchase receipt or invoice as your warranty document.
  2. 2Photograph the initial state of the deck at the time of installation.
  3. 3If a covered issue appears, contact us by email with photos of the defect.
  4. 4Our technical team will evaluate the case and reply within 48 hours.
  5. 5In covered cases, we proceed to replace affected pieces at no cost.
Real fact: over more than 15 years of activity, warranty claims for UV discolouration represent less than 0.3% of all orders. The foam lasts far longer than what we formally guarantee.
